Here she comes.....Miss America!

First of all, to my boys, Mommy's going to blog about her lingerie now so just go back to what you were doing so you don't get grossed out.

I have a confession.  My favorite night gown used to be my Mom's.  Relax Honey, she never ever wore it. She had a thing against lovely lingerie (probably thought she didn't deserve it)  and as with everything else about my mother and me, I am the opposite.  Here is the lovely garment of which I speak......

Very Grace Kelly right?  Well, here's the best part and I just noticed it this morning as the above was hanging on the back of the bathroom door.......

When was the last time you saw Made In The USA on an article of clothing?  Cool, right?  Okay, maybe a little weird that I care so much but it took me back a few years and I got all misty.  Plus, I'm in a nostalgic mood (did I mention this gown is vintage 70's?). I have discovered the show Mad Men.  Yes, I've known for years it was out there and everyone told me I needed to watch it (I have little black dress/pearls/martini fantasies) but I felt the last thing I needed was to get hooked on a t.v. show.  We're in the lazy days of summer now and cheap entertainment is a must, so what the heck?   I broke down and I'm hooked.  They have nailed the 60's and I get so sentimental when I see the show.  Remember when the trash can was lined with a brown paper grocery bag, excuse me, SACK?!  Remember when Daddy came home from work and his suit smelled like cigarettes?  Dippity Doo anyone?  I know, I've got it bad........I was vacuuming in a dress yesterday!  Don't worry, I'll snap out of it eventually.  Maybe.

How wonderful and what special memories of your mother. I love pretty lingerie, and feeling like a feminine woman even if wearing jeans and a tshirt while painting!

Made in the USA!

Yes Yes! I remember the brown paper trash sacks! It was my job to take them out every day to the 50 gallon drum at the edge of the tomato garden and set those babies on fire, uh, I mean far.

But I've never watched Mad Men - I'll have to check it out.

Thanks for being my 100!

what a wonderful remembrance of your Mom . . . and yes, I was late to watching Mad Men as well but I, too, am hooked -- it's like living one's life all over again!

Careful with that night gown - I might snick over and steal it! ;-)

I find it maddening that so little is produced in the good old USA! Have you looked at the bottom of a St*rb*cks cup? At least the ones I tried to purchase, were all made elsewhere (for fear of being sued, I'd rather not be more precise ... have you noticed lately the letters "PRC" after "Made in"? Are they hoping we can't figure out what that stands for? I am mad at American and European brand name companies that have their wares manufactured in cheap labor countries, but keep the high prices!).

Never watched "Made Men" - I'll look for the show once the finals are over and I get to enjoy summer!

Oh I do remember Dippity doo, and the cigarette smell! It's amazing how things can transport you back in time. Remember Wella Balsam Shampoo?? I'll never forget the fragrance! Imagine there were actually factories making clothing here. I assume they are all gone at least in the southern part.

Don't count on snapping out of the retro mood. I am so pleased that you are finally watching Mad Men though. Let me know once you've finished the past season! You can call me to vent about revelations.

I've never commented on anyone's lingerie before.
But I must say, yes -- this is quite lovely. And so special, endowed with such sentimental value.
