Happy Birthday Lana Turner! How do I get through the months of January and February? Usually by throwing a party. Previous parties have been Geisha Tea Party, Breakfast at Tiffany's Brunch and even a "Snapped" party. That was back in the Halcyon Days. The new place demands a more intimate type of gathering so I decided on a birthday party for Lana. Her big day was February 8th and yes, I know she's dead.......rest in peace beautiful Lana.
Just a few friends, who are always good sports about my neurotic whims, will come by for cake and champagne. Check out the reflection of the "Dining Room" light fixture in the mirror. How sad is that? It's on the project list!
The glasses were a wedding present for my Mom and Dad from his mother (December 15, 1945). I've seen them referred to as sherbet glasses but I have observed them in old movies, such as Lana's, being used as champagne glasses. So elegant!
Love my Lenox "Autumn" china!!!!
Happy Birthday Lana AND to my February birthday girls, Diana, Anne, SueRu, and Gina!
By the way, if you ever want to have a good cry watching a movie, please check out Lana in Madame X! You may need to partake of some Absinthe to get through the cheesy script and less than phenomenal acting but I guarantee, as hokey as it is, you will cry your eyes out at the end. I ALWAYS do! It's worth it alone to see her dresses and jewels. And that master bedroom........sheeesh! Well, I must get that champagne on ice! Check out some great table scapes with Susan at Between Naps on the Porch. Thanks Susan!

I love this idea! Brilliant way to get through these cold, dreary months! Love your beautiful china and crystal...your friends are going to feel so special!
How pretty! Love your tribute to Lana Turner. Very movie star elegant!
Those Lenox dishes are beautiful!!~
OMgosh I am laughing at the absinthe comment, have you ever drank that stuff? I have a funny story, I may have to save that for another blogging day LOL!!~ You know van Gogh cut off his ear on that stuff!!
I love your mirror and those lamps! I also like your china and those glasses are so special!
What a fun idea for a party!
Thank you ladies! Debbie, I have indeed had absinthe. I was so intrigued by Madame X's addiction, I had to see what "chasing the green faerie" was all about. I always wanted to have an absinthe party but I fear it would have to be a sleep over!
I love the Pump Room -- such memories! Bath is a great town!
I love your Autumn plates. My sister-in-law has these and I have lusted after them for 20 years. I even did a post on them! Great tribute to Lana Turner too. I have never had absinthe. Scares me!
Hello Vignette Design! Thanks for commenting - it lead me to your blog and I love it! As for absinthe, you're not missing anything.
Very fun idea! And Lenox are beaufiul.
Sorry I missed this party!! We must be on the same wave length. I just watched Voyage Now with Bette Davis. It was not sad, not even great acting, but the clothes and house decor of the well to do Vale family of Boston was teriffic!!
I didn't know you liked her so much, or I'd have been kinder to her on my blog :)
Your home is beautiful, you really have a knack for making colors work!
