Derby Lite

No Derby party this year, it's just as well since I can't find my 20 odd silver julep cups!  Maybe next year.  In the meantime, I had to at least attempt a Derby "table scape" to share.  That julep cup should be polished, frosted and filled with crushed ice, simple syrup, mint and bourbon, not an old candle.  I could have sworn we had more bourbon than that.

I'm looking forward to next year and the 137th Run for the Roses AND a return to hosting parties!

Please join Susan at BNOTP for Tablescape Thursday.  Thanks Susan!

A friend does a Derby party every year -- we have so much fun and one year we gifted them with silver (plate not sterling) Julep cups with their names on them -- Miss Becky and Mr. Jim.

The Derby is early this year because the first Sat in May IS the 1st!!!!

I think it snuck up on us!

Hi,
We visited Kentucky Downs while my daughter was attending college at UK and loved it. I would love to attend the Kentucky Derby...or maybe next best thing maybe one of your Derby parties. Cute table, love the almost empty bourbon.

Hi, I just found your blog through Tablescape Thursday. I have been going through your old posts and must say you have done a marvelous job with a rental. So sorry the economy hit y'all so hard. My husband is in the banking end of it and they are doing there best to stay afloat. The building industry was just hit so hard! My son and his family live in Nashville. Brentwood is a beautiful area. I look forward to watching more of your transformations.

Love it, Dana. I may need your help finding a big floppy "Derby" hat for my travels. Cannot wait to see you this week!

Twenty-odd silver mint julep cups? COVET! I hope you find them before next year! I finally found a reasonable facsimile and plan to celebrate accordingly this year.

Hi! Came across your blog tonight and took a second look since you're from Brentwood. I'm your neighbor! Been a rough weekend, huh? Hope your safe and dry. We made it through fine. Did a post with some pics from the devastation.
