Decking the Entry Hall

Those gifts aren't just props, they are the boys' 2010 Christmas ornaments.  Dinner on Christmas Eve is our big family meal.  I place the wrapped ornaments on their plates and they open them before the meal.  I try to get an ornament that represents something significant to them for that year.

Love your hall --

We did the same with Daughter Sarah -- she has "Mickey Mouse" ornament (her second Christmas) and Betsy Clarke ornament (her 5th), etc. When she graduated from college and had her real apartment, we put them on our tree one last time and when we took down the tree they went in a box and she took them with her to her new home (sigh -- I miss those ornaments but she's happy that they are on her tree) -- and we still continue to gift her with a ornament each year.

(This year it was an oyster shell painted like a Santa with Charleston 2010 writtenon the back)!

What a nice tradition. We've given the boys ornaments through the years but never thought about letting them open the box on Christmas Eve and hang it up.

I also love your door "stocking" in the previous post!!

Best,
Bonnie
