It is indeed, Biltmore Estate

I was fortunate enough to be invited to accompany my friend Missy to pick up her beautiful daughter at school for Christmas break.  She had the brilliant idea to visit Biltmore on the way.  We took a candle light tour of the "house" all decked out in it's Christmas finery.  We were not disappointed.  GORGEOUS!

These shots were taken inside the Conservatory -

Since ya'll are so smart, you probably know they don't allow interior photos of the mansion.  It was so beautiful by candlelight.  Our tickets allowed us to go back the following day and explore the grounds.  Here are a few more shots (because I can't get enough).

There was snow!!!!!!!!!

Hmmmmmmm.......a little too much holiday cheer?

Also, note to self: incorporate gargoyles in next home.  I can't leave all the responsibility to one solitary foo dog!

I have plenty more but I won't burden you with ALL my "vacation slides."  If you ever have the opportunity to go, take it!

p.s. The sky really was that blue!  Merry Christmas!

Isn't that place wonderful? At a conference a few years ago I was able to visit, and it was breath-taking. The arbor photo you took in your last post, with it's twisty vines, was what first triggered my memory. I remembered that area of the garden in the spring time! :) Thanks for sharing the photos. I can only imagine how beautiful it would be all decked out for the holidays!

I was there in early spring before everything bloomed and I have always wanted to go back. The Christmas time decorations are supposed to be lovely as are the full bloom gardens late spring. I loved it anyway in it's stark state and just imagined how life was for those who were lucky enough to dine and live in that atrium in the front. Thanks for sharing! Ann

Aw, I love the Biltmore at Christmas. Was it stupid crowded like usual? Someday maybe I'll post the story about my son barfing on the oil painting of Frederick Law Olmsted because nobody would let us through the crowd and out the door.

On another note, your decorations are looking stunning. Love the blue room!
